Ronald J. Pestritto


Dr. Ronald J. Pestritto is a Senior Fellow of the Claremont Institute and graduate dean and professor of politics at Hillsdale College, where he holds the Charles and Lucia Shipley Chair in the American Constitution.

Dr. Pestritto has published seven books, including Woodrow Wilson and the Roots of Modern Liberalism and American Progressivism: A Reader. His other books include an edited collection of Wilson’s speeches and writings, Woodrow Wilson: The Essential Political Writings, and Founding the Criminal Law: Punishment and Political Thought in the Origins of America.

In addition to his academic work, Dr. Pestritto has written widely in the press on progressivism and the administrative state.

Dr. Pestritto earned his B.A from Claremont McKenna College in 1990 and his Ph.D. from the Claremont Graduate University in 1996.
