2020 Publius Fellows


Clare Basil is a Public Interest Fellow at the R Street Institute’s Civil Society, Education and Work program. She has held fellowships with Hudson Political Studies, The American Conservative, Tertio Millennio, the Intercollegiate Studies Institute. She studied political philosophy at the University of Dallas, where she graduated magna cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa and received the Willmoore Kendall Award for Excellence in Political Philosophy.

Matthew Boose is a Mount Vernon fellow at the Center for American Greatness, writing for American Greatness, and is also a staff writer at the Conservative Institute. His writing has also appeared in the Daily Caller and RealClearPolitics. He graduated from Stony Brook University with a B.A. in History.

Natalia Dashan is an associate editor at Palladium Magazine, an independent publication that explores the future of governance and society through long-form analysis, political theory, and investigative journalism. Her research interests include geopolitics, sociology, and cognitive systems analysis. She has written for Aeon Magazine, The Washington Examiner, and other publications. Dashan graduated from Yale University with a B.S. in Psychology.

Shane Devine is a research assistant at the Capital Research Center. He writes and edits for their website Influence Watch, a compendium of information on the non-profit world: political donors, private foundations, policy research organizations, and advocacy groups. He previously worked as a fact check reporter for The Daily Caller. Devine graduated with a B.A. in English from The New School. He wrote his senior capstone on Virgil, St. Augustine, and Friedrich Nietzsche.

Eli Diamond is program officer in American Values at a private foundation based in New York City. Previously, Eli completed internships with the U.S. House Committee on Foreign Affairs, American Enterprise Institute, Hudson Institute, and American Israel Public Affairs Committee. An alumnus of the Hertog War Studies Program, he has also been a Campus Fellow with the Tikvah Fund, and an inaugural Academic Fellow of the New York Federation of College Republicans. Eli holds a B.A. in economics from Yeshiva University.

Robert Erickson is the current Hilton Kramer Fellow at The New Criterion, a monthly review of the arts and intellectual life. He came to the magazine after teaching at a charter school in the South Bronx. Erickson holds a B.A. from Middlebury College, having completed the Classics major and the Program in Literary Studies. He plans to resume his study of Classics.

Matthew Foldi currently serves as the Rapid Response Director for the Congressional Leadership Fund and American Action Network. He is the youngest elected official in Chicago’s history, having been elected to represent the Fifth Ward as Ward Committeeman at age 19. A graduate of the University of Chicago, he served as President of the University of Chicago College Republicans, Chair of Illinois College Republicans, founded Students for Free Expression, and spoke nationwide on free speech issues.

Mary Soren Hansen is a research associate at the Potenziani Program in Constitutional Studies at the University of Notre Dame, where she also administers the Tocqueville Program for Inquiry into Religion and Public Life. A summer fellow at the Hudson Institute for Political Studies, she previously interned at the Heritage Foundation’s Simon Center for Principles and Politics. She holds a B.A. in liberal studies from Notre Dame.

Paul Ingrassia is a first-year law student at Cornell Law School and is an associate on the Legal Law Institute’s Supreme Court Bulletin. He is also the co-host of the Right on Point podcast, interviewing leading figures in politics and academics. He previously interned for the White House’s National Economic Council. His writings have been featured in National ReviewThe American ConservativeHuman Events, and American Greatness. Ingrassia received his B.A. from Fordham University, where he graduated with a degree in Mathematics and Economics.

Josiah Lippincott is a commissioned officer in the United States Marine Corps. In 2019 he deployed to Japan as an operations planner for the use of rocket artillery in the Pacific theater. He previously worked as a Congressional Page, an intern for Congressman Devin Nunes, and an intern for the Heritage Foundation’s Kenneth Simon Center for Principles and Politics. He will begin the master’s program at the Van Andel Graduate School of Statesmanship at Hillsdale College this fall. He graduated from Hillsdale College with a B.A. in Politics.

Max Minshull is a research assistant for Professor Niall Ferguson at the Hoover Institution.  He has worked with the California Federation of College Republicans and the California Republican Party. He participated in the 2019 National Conservatism Conference and took an application-only class with Peter Thiel on Globalism and Sovereignty. A graduate of Stanford University with a degree in History, he wrote his thesis on historian Richard Pipes and the foreign policy of the Reagan Administration.

Benjamin Rabin is an undergraduate at Boston University, where he is majoring in Political Science & Psychology. He is especially interested in empirical data-driven approaches to legal and governmental studies. He has previously interned at the U.S. Senate Committee on the Budget and at Lucid Biostatistical Consulting. After graduation, he intends to start a career in national defense and foreign policy, with a focus on U.S.-Russia relations.

Elle Rogers is an incoming J.D. candidate at the University of Chicago Law School. She has interned with the Heritage Foundation, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, and the office of United States Senator Ben Sasse. Most recently, she was a fellow at the John Jay Institute. Rogers is a recipient of the Intercollegiate Studies Institute’s DeVos Award and holds a B.A. in philosophy from the King’s College, where she graduated as valedictorian.

Helen Roy is a DC and Carolinas-based consultant.  Helen has worked as an intelligence analyst, research assistant, and writer. She earned a B.A. in Chinese from Wofford College and a M.A. in National Security from the Institute of World Politics. As an undergrad, she received the David L. Boren Scholarship for study in China through the National Security Education Program.
