Claremont Institute Alumna Strikes Down Federal Mask Mandate

Claremont, CA—U.S. District Judge Kathryn Kimball Mizelle, an appointee of former President Donald Trump, and a 2017 Claremont Institute John Marshall fellow, earlier this week struck down the federal mask mandate for airplanes and other forms of public transportation.

Judge Mizelle’s decision now places the mask requirement squarely in the hands of private entities and local transit authorities.

“It’s always nice to see Claremont fellows in the news, especially when they are leading the charge against unscientific, and now senseless, federal requirements,” said Claremont Institute President Ryan P. Williams.

“Our John Marshall fellowship, which Judge Mizelle attended, brings together the brightest young legal minds in America to discuss the natural law and natural rights principles of the American founding and their application to our rolling crisis of constitutionalism. We are proud to call Judge Mizelle an alumna.”
