Claremont Goes to Washington
To say these past few weeks have been a rollercoaster is an understatement. First, the attempted assassination of President Trump left us horrified and angry, but determined. But then, when the news broke that Senator J.D. Vance had been selected as his running mate, we were jubilant.
This is a gratifying moment for the Claremont Institute. Indeed, as Senator Vance said recently,
But—and I say this with modesty—we already knew he considers Claremont invaluable.
- We knew it because he hired Jacob Reses (Publius 2016) as his Chief of Staff. And James Braid (Lincoln 2019) as his Deputy Chief of Staff. And William Martin (Lincoln 2024) as his Press Secretary;
- We knew it because he speaks at our events, sometimes as the keynote speaker; and
- We knew it because he reads and writes for our publications.
And we knew it long before Politico, who just this week published an article describing the Claremont Institute as one of the seven thinkers or groups that have “shaped” Vance’s “worldview.”
The influence of the Claremont Institute is greater today than at any point in our history. We always strive to use this influence to benefit our country and fellow citizens, by pressing the fight to recover the American idea and defend the American way of life—with your help.
Thank you,
