Claremont Institute Welcomes Christopher Caldwell as Senior Fellow

Claremont, CA, January 18, 2019—The Claremont Institute is pleased to announce the hiring of renowned journalist Christopher Caldwell as a Senior Fellow and Contributing Editor of the Institute’s flagship publication, the Claremont Review of Books. Caldwell joins Claremont after several years as senior editor for the Weekly Standard.

“Chris has been a longtime friend of Claremont, so it is with great pleasure that we formally welcome him among our ranks,” said Ryan Williams, the Institute’s president and publisher of the Claremont Review of Books. “Few have addressed the crisis facing America and the West with such incisive perspective and analytical rigor as Chris. We’re excited to add his insight and wit to our arsenal.”

Mr. Caldwell’s bylines appear regularly in the Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and The Washington Post. He is also the author of Reflections on the Revolution In Europe (2009), an acclaimed study of the impact of the mass immigration of Muslim immigrants to Europe in the 20th century, reviewed in the Winter 2009 issue of the Claremont Review of Books.

“Chris’s trenchant study of national identity and populism, along with his unflinching analysis of the costs of open borders and globalization, have enriched the pages of the magazine,” said Charles Kesler, founder and editor of the quarterly review. “Adding Chris to our masthead as a Contributing Editor will no doubt sharpen the publication’s aim at liberalism’s most vulnerable point—its head.”
