The Claremont Institute is proud to honor California Supreme Court Justice Janice Rogers Brown, who will receive our inaugural Jurisprudence Award at a dinner on Friday, September 17, 2004, at the elegant Four Seasons Hotel in Newport Beach, California. Dinner begins at 7:00 pm and the reception is at 6:00 pm.

The evening will celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Claremont Institute's Center for Constitutional Jurisprudence, led by Dr. John Eastman. Over the past five years Dr. Eastman and the Claremont Institute have championed the Boy Scouts' right to set their own requirements for leadership, defended school vouchers and the Pledge of Allegiance against erroneous Establishment Clause challenges, fought unconstitutional tax increases, supported color-blind justice, and defended free political speech. Please join us as we reflect on our accomplishments and discuss our strategy for the future.

Our Jurisprudence Award recipient, Justice Janice Rogers Brown, has been an Associate Justice of the California Supreme Court since 1996. From 1994-96 she served as Associate Justice of the Third District Court of Appeal in Sacramento. Prior to that she was Legal Affairs Secretary to former Governor Pete Wilson, and Deputy Secretary and General Counsel for the state's Business, Transportation and Housing Agency. She also worked in the criminal and civil divisions of the state Attorney General's Office.
