Christmas is a week away. You've waited until the last minute to do your shopping again. You have no idea what to give Uncle Lou this year. And the last thing your nephew Bobby needs is another idiotic video game. Well, why not give the gift of reading? When in doubt, it's hard to go wrong with a good book.
To help you along, we asked eight friends and writers for the Claremont Review of Books to offer their suggestions for books that will warm the heart, prod the mind, and stir the soul. Contributors include Gerard Alexander, Larry P. Arnn, Nicholas Antongiavanni, Ben Boychuk, Andrew E. Busch, Steven F. Hayward, Ken Masugi, and Bruce Sanborn. Being careful not to praise our own unduly, we mention here, once, a book several contributors named in particular: A New Birth of Freedom, by Harry V. Jaffa, the Institute's intellectual godfather and a distinguished fellow.
There is more where that came from.
