Claremont Bookshelf

This list of works is not just for scholars. It is for anyone interested in the heritage of America, whether students, teachers or citizens. We list the writings, speeches and documents of the founding period first. Second, we list philosophic sources of the ideas of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution—in other words, books the Founders themselves studied and treasured. Third, we list some of the most important commentaries on the founding and America from the beginning of our history down to the current day. If you go to Amazon.com using any general or direct link and buy a book (even a book that is not on our list), a portion of the purchase price will go to the Claremont Institute.

1. Writings, Speeches, and Official Documents of the Founding
2. Philosophic Sources of the American Founding
3. Commentaries on the Founding
4. Abraham Lincoln and the Civil War
5. Winston S. Churchill
