2000 Publius Fellows

Stuart Buck will earn a J.D. from Harvard Law School this summer, and then begin a judicial clerkship with Judge David Nelson of the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati. Mr. Buck holds a B.A. and an M.M. in Music Performance from the University of Georgia, Athens.

Gwynne Coburn is a public policy fellow at the Pacific Research Institute in San Francisco. She is graduate of the University of California, San Diego and has been Assistant Deputy Cabinet Secretary to Governor Pete Wilson.

Thomas Karako is a politics major at the University of Dallas. He has been an editor of and contributor to University Scholar and a volunteer for Rep. Joe Barton. He plans to pursue graduate study in political philosophy.

Hugh Liebert is a social studies major at Harvard College, where he is publisher of the Harvard Salient and contributes regularly to the Harvard Crimson. Mr. Liebert has been an intern at the Weekly Standard and at the American Enterprise Institute. He plans to pursue graduate study in political science and philosophy.

Andrew Marino is a political science and English major at the University of Kansas. He is the editor and founder of a conservative journal at the University of Kansas and has worked for Public Opinion Strategies, a polling and consulting firm.

Justin Porter is pursuing his M.A. in history and international relations at the London School of Economics. After he completes his degree in September, he will go on active duty as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. Mr. Porter holds a B.A. in social studies from Harvard College and has been an intern at the Heritage Foundation.

Ryan Schmidt is a graduate student in political science at the University of Calgary. She holds a B.A. in political science from the University of Western Ontario. Ms. Schmidt has been a research assistant and plans a career as a political journalist.

Christopher Skinnell holds a B.A. in government and legal studies from Claremont McKenna College. Next fall, he will attend the University of Chicago Law School. Currently, Mr. Skinnell is a research associate for the Rose Institute of State and Local Government in Claremont. He has also been an intern at the Heritage Foundation.

Scott Wolland is a Ph.D. candidate in political science at Fordham University. He holds a B.A. from Eureka College and an M.A. from American University. Mr. Wolland has been an intern for Illinois Governor Jim Edgar and is a reserve officer for the United States Coast Guard.
